In addition to the existing towns in the NCR region very soon some additions will be made from the emerging towns of India. This is considering the rapid development path on which India is, more towns are emerging as a promising part of the Dilli NCR region. These towns are Rohtak, Sonepat, Jhajjar, Rewari, Baghpat from the state of Haryana and Meerut & Bulandshahar from Uttar Pradesh.
The important emerging towns of India are:
ROHTAK
Rohtak is the “Heart of Haryana”. It is located 70 km Northwest of New Delhi at the NH 10. The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has developed an Industrial Model Township (IMT) which houses many domestic and international companies. It is the home to the current Chief Minister of Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Rohtak has all the facilities of an upcoming mega polis, it offers healthcare facilities from both private and government hospitals, it offers sport facilities through various stadiums offering different sports, higher education through various universities, tourism destination at the tilyar lake, etc. Rohtak is very well connected to the rest of India through Indian Railways and buses. The NH 10 connects Rohtak with Dilli.
SONIPAT
Sonipat is a town and a municipal council in the Sonipat district in the state of Haryana, India. Sonipat is around 20 km from Dilli (Sindhu Border). The Yamuna River runs along the eastern boundary of the district. Sonipat comprises 3 sub-divisions namely Sonipat, Ganaur and Gohana and seven blocks (Sonipat, Ganaur, Rai, Kharkhoda, Gohana, Kathura and Mundlana). It has been carved out of Rohtak and was made a full fledged district on 22 December 1972.
Though primarily Sonipat was an agricultural town, many industrial giants have always stayed here since the industrial revolution started back in the 50’s. Some significant names in Sonipat are: Atlas Cycle Industry, Electric Construction & Equipment Co. (ECE), LT Overseas, OSRAM India, Yakult Danone India Pvt Ltd, Smithkline Beecham Consumer Healthcare Ltd., etc.
Sonipat too has many universities, colleges, temples and churches, mughal buildings, opportunities for sports, etc. The climate is like Dilli and it is also well connected to the national capital.
JHAJJAR
Jhajjar is a town in Jhajjar district in the state of Haryana. Jhajjar is one of the 21 district of Haryana state, India. Jhajjar was carved out of Rohtak district on July 15, 1997. Although Jhajjar has a significant history about India’s first fight for independence which broke out in 1857, it is however rarely remembered for the same now. It has prospered into a booming agricultural town and is also famous for its cattle wealth, dairy products and rich food. Off late Reliance Ventures, a group company of Reliance Industries, and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HSIIDC), signed a joint venture to set up a multi-product Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Jhajjar.
RIL (Reliance Infrastructure Ltd.) is planning to kick-start its SEZ plan in Gurgaon and Jhajjar with around INR 3000 CR being pumped in. Agreements are almost done with Japanese and Korean companies like Panasonic and Mitsui for setting up large manufacturing and logistics facilities in the Gurgaon Jhajjar SEZ and estimated to create 1.5 million jobs.
MEERUT
Meerut is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is an ancient city with settlements dating back to the Indus Valley civilization having been found in and around the area. The city lies 70 km (43 mi) northeast of the national capital Dilli, and 453 km northwest of the state capital, Lucknow. It has the 2nd largest army cantonment in the country. The city is one of the largest producers of sports goods, and the largest producer of musical instruments in India as well as this is the largest producers of bicycle rickshaw in world. The city is also an education hub in western Uttar Pradesh.
Meerut is the 63rd-fastest-growing urban area in the world. It is the 14th fastest developing city in India. Meerut comes second on both the financial penetration index, which measures things like the presence of ATMs and bank branches, and on the consumption index, indicating the city’s transformation into an urban town. While the city appears in the bottom 10 in job creations. The infrastructure segment of Meerut is going through a boom phase with many new projects coming up in and around the city an example of the same is the recently opened expressway and a five star hotel in greenwood city. There are many new buildings, shopping complexes, malls, roads, flyovers and apartments coming up.
