Las Vegas, London and New York now – hold your breath – Ghaziabad! The wild west of Uttar Pradesh (UP) is now up there among the 10 most dynamic cities of the world.
Over the years Ghaziabad has managed to carve out a niche for itself on the world map and emerged as one of the most sought after destinations. Till the late 90’s Ghaziabad was just another town on the outskirts of Dilli and it was better known for providing haven for hardcore criminals. Not surprisingly it was a forbidden territory and few people dared to venture there and for many Ghaziabad just didn’t exist.
Post the year 2005 Ghaziabad has been judged as one of the top ten hottest destinations of the world by the Newsweek magazine. Gone are the days of obscurity, today Ghaziabad has emerged as one of the best swanky towns. With world class townships, state-of-the-art malls and higher study centers have redefined the paradigms of Ghaziabad.
Today Ghaziabad is not only a preferred choice for people looking to build / buy homes / flats, it has emerged as a preferred choice for corporates who are looking for an address in Dilli or NCR. The skyscrapers which have cropped all along the NH-24 and beyond bear testimony to this fact the entire city’s skyline have been redefined.
With the presence of all major brands like Big Bazaar, Spencers, Reliance Fresh, Subhiksha, Mc Donalds, KFC, Dominos, etc. property rates in Ghaziabad in the recent times have sky-rocketed. Ghaziabad offers ample entertainment options as well there are nearly 20 theaters all across the city and each one of them is equipped with modern equipment. In fact the Ad lab at Pacific Mall has the only I-Max theatre of NCR. Interestingly though, there are so many multiplexes but none of them have screened an English movie yet.
Developed as the industrial hub of Uttar Pradesh, Ghaziabad has come a long way from being called the poor cousin of Noida and Gurgaon in the NCR. The fact that private developers can buy land directly from farmers in Ghaziabad, unlike in Noida and Greater Noida, helped the city score over others.
But the city has grown also because of the spillover effect of industrialization in Noida and Greater Noida. Not only does Ghaziabad attract the IT/ITeS workforce from neighboring Noida but it is also a cheaper residential and investment option for Dilli-bound commuters. To meet rising demand, developers are planning to pump huge amounts into various projects.
Commuting to Ghaziabad has become easy with the Dilli Metro starting its services between the Dilli and Vaishali. The National Highways have also been developed and therefore commuting between neighboring states has also become easier with buses plying multiple times during a day.
