Sanskriti Kendra Museum is a set of three museums namely, Museum of ‘Everyday Art’, Museum of Indian Terracotta (tribal art) and Textile Museum. The museum was established by Shri Mulkraj Anand in 1979. It is housed within Sanskriti Kendra complex, at Anandgram, an artist village complex, spread over eight acres, situated 10 km south of New Dilli, near Aya Nagar on Mehrauli – Gurgaon road, on the outskirts of Saddi Dilli.
Established in 1978, Sanskriti Pratishthan is a non-profit organization, based in New Dilli, India. The organization perceives its role as that of a catalyst, in revitalizing cultural sensitivity in contemporary times. The Sanskriti Museum is committed to create a better understanding of different cultures through the sharing of art, ideas and life experiences; offer visibility to indigenous traditional arts and artisans, crafts and crafts-persons; perpetuate and strengthening cultural roots of the emerging generation world over; encourage young people with potential, to pursue meaningful projects in arts and culture.
The Sanskriti Museum is a collection of what is called “Everyday Arts” and houses only terracotta & metal artifacts depicting the story of life. The complex has a workshop and an Artist’s Studio where artisans work and live in the same complex in the Terracotta village. Sanskriti literally means ‘the process of cultivating’; the foundation has been working towards cultivating an environment for the preservation and development of the artistic and cultural resources not only of India but of the world as a whole.
The Textile Museum is a showcase of the best of, and the most diverse of Indian textile heritage. This section of the Sanskriti Museum is devoted to the history of textiles and it features a series of impressive patterns and surfaces from the various cultures and decades.
The Sanskriti Kendra is one of the most impressive places to visit when taking a look at museums around Dilli. This is a great place that features several types of arts and crafts that come from many places from all around India. It is a great place to visit if you are in Saddi Dilli.
The Sanskriti Museum is open from 10 AM to 5 PM on all days except Mondays and Public Holidays.
